About PCHS

Perry County Humane Society in Du Quoin, Illinois is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, no-kill animal rescue. We have been saving animals in southern Illinois since 1984. Perry County Humane Society was re-organized in 2003 when we opened a no-kill animal shelter through the generosity of Bob and Nora Jackson of Du Quoin, IL. This humble beginning of a shelter started in their backyard in a dog boarding facility that they were no longer using. These 2 beautiful souls graciously allowed us to use their property for almost 2 years allowing us to save hundreds of animals and funds until we were able to purchase our own property in 2005 where we are still operating. Perry County Humane Society will fur-ever be grateful for the kindness of Bob and Nora Jackson. 

The Perry County Humane Society is managed by volunteers and supported solely on donations. Our mission is to reduce the overpopulation and euthanasia rate of adoptable animals and to educate the community on spaying and neutering their pets, responsible pet ownership, and animal welfare issues.
